Obituary for John Joseph Chiappa Print John J. Chiappa passed away December 28, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. he was 95. He was born in Stirling, NJ on August 13 1923 and resided there his entire life.
He was the son of Louis and Angelina Chiappa. His sisters Laura Cozens and Louise Fanton pre-deceased him along with one brother Alfred Chiappa. John was a WWII staff sergeant serving in the army from 1943 – 1946 with the 1490th Engineer Maintenance Company.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 484. Surviving are his wife of 69 years Anita Chiappa, 5 children, his son John and his wife Stephanie of Flemington, his daughter Linda and her husband Ivan Hache of Flemington, his daughter Patti and her husband Mark Zaifman of Windsor, CA, his son Bill and his wife Nancy of Sisters, Oregon and his daughter Lori and her husband Alex Rohrs of Montclair, NJ. He had 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Papanestor, Michael Hache, Renee Stewart, Steven Chiappa, Benjamin Rohrs, and 5 great grandchildren Caitlyn, Aida, Fiona, Vinnie and Kaitlyn, and several Nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday January 3rd from 5 – 7 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd. , Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday January 4th 2019 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Bebout Ave.
, Stirling, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Stirling. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
