John R. Leis Lakeland – John R. Leis, 79, passed away Jan. 31, 2019. Mr. Leis was born in Dayton, OH on Feb.

25, 1939 to the late Richard and Irene Leis. He dedicated over 55 years to Dick’s Auto Sales prior to his retirement. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, and enjoyed golf, Rays baseball, FSU Football, and especially spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen Leis; son, John R. (Charlene) Leis, Jr.; daughters, Lori A. Wherry and Karen R. (Lamar) Freeman; brother, Jim (Connie) Leis; sister, Sandy (Jim) Jordan; sister in law, Doryce Leis; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Leis. Visitation will be Tues.

from 10-11 am at Resurrection Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at the church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice Lakeland.
