John Reid, age 77, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019, in Comanche, Texas.

He was born on September 16, 1941, in Hasse, Texas, to Doyle and Pearl (Tilley) Reid. On July 13, 1963, he was united in marriage to Stella McDonald in Proctor, Texas. John was a building contractor.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was very involved in the community, he was a Gideon, loved history and was a member of the Confederate Veterans. John had a talent for singing and writing children’s books, and loved watching Jeopardy.

He enjoyed the great outdoors and had a passion for fishing. He was a member of Proctor Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Stella Reid of Comanche; daughter, Sonja McLean and husband Ross of Stephenville; son, Grant Reid of Comanche; grandchildren, Seth McLean and Sara McLean; sisters, Maxine Smith and Delores Downing; and brothers, Ranny Reid and Wallace Reid.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Pearl Reid; brother, Douglas Reid; and sister, Wanda Sullivan.
