John Robert Hoffman November 25, 1968 – March 17, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card John passed away while in care at Tacoma General Hospital on March 17. 2019 at the age of 50. John was born in Elkhart, Indiana but grew up in the Kirkland/Redmond WA area.

He attended Redmond High School and was a lifelong University of Washington Huskies fan. In 1990 he married Amanda Patten and together they had three beautiful daughters and a wonderful labrador named Blackie. He was a family man who enjoyed the nightly newspaper with his dog by his side and his young daughters clipping bows in his hair.

That was home to him. He was Uncle John to 6 nieces and a cousin and embraced his role when the girls needed him to pull their baby teeth, play Santa Claus or drive hundreds of Girl Scout cookies around the county. His hobbies included outdoor activities such as camping and gold panning.

He often dreamed of a life in Alaska mining the rivers. He spent hours researching gold mining equipment and developing his own dredge system. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors Association of America.

His favorite days were spent at gold panning expos on Saturday and watching football on Sunday. He greatly missed his brother Jimmy who resides in Pennsylvania and mourned the loss of his mother daily. John is survived by his daughters Hannah E. Connor, Julia M. Halsey, and Meagan L. Hoffman, his two granddaughters Eva K. Halsey and Alana J. Curry as well as his brother James “Jimmy” B. Hoffman.

He is preceded in death by his father Thomas L. Hoffman, his mother Judith L. Hoffman and his brother Timothy A. Hoffman. John will be missed more than he ever imagined. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
