Obituary for John Weddington John Roy “J.R.” Weddington, age 78 of McMinnnville, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the home of his son and daughter in-law John and Mary Weddington in Pelham, Tennessee. Following a nine month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born Monday, March 18, 1940 in McMinnville, Tennessee to parents Luther Virgil “Blue” and Maggie Lee Hillis Weddington that proceded him in death along with his grandparents that raised him Roy and Daisy Hunt Weddington.

He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. He proudly served his country for three years in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was a journeyman tool and die maker and worked in many shops in Warren county and surrounding counties.

He is survived by the love of his life and mother of his children; Billie Marie Jones, sons; John Roy Jr and wife Mary of Pelham, TN, Paul Wesley and wife Jennifer of McMinnville. Grandchildren; Desi (Frank) Jefferson, Josie (Josh) Tuttle, Damaris (Dru) Kaegi, Kenzie Weddington, and JonPaul Weddington. Great grandchildren; Andrea, Drake, Carter, and Savannah Jefferson and Will Tuttle.

Step grandchildren; Brittany Woodard and Cassie Spitzer. Step great grandchildren Greyson and Paisley Woodard. One sister Joanne (Jim) Smoot of McMinnville and special friend Teddy Myers of Morrison.

The Weddington family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Avalon Hospice. A Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home located at 415 North Chancery St. McMinnville, Tennessee 37110. Interment will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Smartt, TN.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2018, and again Sunday 8 AM to 3 PM at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, 415 North Chancery St., McMinnville, Tennessee. Veterans Honors performed by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
