John M. Matsinger “Shemp”, suddenly passed away on February 19, 2019. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, a retiree from the City of Philadelphia Sheriff’s Department, a volunteer for the Second Alarmers, member of the Sons of Italy Lodge #2085 and FOP Lodge #5. He enjoyed spending time working with locks and gadgets and was known as the Gadget Guy.

John was a wonderful and caring husband, father and brother and will be sadly missed by his wife Estelle “Sandy” (nee Putnick) of 33 years; dearest father of John K. and Alex; brother of Marion Landrum, Daniel (Josie) Matsinger, Janice Staunton and Patricia Matsinger. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives, friends, members of the Sons of Italy, Second Alarmers, Sheriff’s Department, and FOP Lodge #5 are invited to gather Tuesday beginning 11 AM at the Murphy Ruffenach, Brian W. Donnelly Funeral Home (3rd & Wolf Streets).

Funeral Home Service to follow at 12:30 PM. Burial private. Donations in his memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2300 S. 18th Street, Phila.
