John T Modjeski June 30, 1952 – May 10, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation On the morning of May 10, 2019, John Modjeski, age 66, passed away in Thedacare Hospital, Appleton, WI. John was the youngest of four children born to Leo and Stephanie Modjeski in Mauston, WI, in June of 1952. After graduation from Mauston High School, John joined the Air Force and served for three years.

He then received a medical discharge due to a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). From the age of 22, he lived life with optimism and acceptance. He earned a degree in journalism from University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO.

He enjoyed life in Colorado for several years. Returning to Wisconsin, he never complained about his health even as MS prevented him from doing many things; he always said he felt just fine. His friends remember him as an all-around great guy with a great sense of humor.

Plover,WI, became John’s home. There he shared a house built by Ed Plada and his family. The care and support they provided for the last twenty-six plus years kept John healthy and involved in family life.

A recent highlight was sharing breakfasts with little Ahria. John is also survived by his siblings, Ernie (Rita) Modjeski, Annette (Bill) Gudim and Gerry (Patty) Modjeski. His nephews: Rich (Kerri) Modjeski, Rob (Jessica) Modjeski, Mike (Jennifer) Modjeski and Jeff (Jennifer) Modjeski.

He is further survived by his great nieces and nephews: Nate, Anna, Clara,Jack, Ryan, Jordan, Zachary and Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents; Leo and Stephanie Modjeski. The Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am, Thursday, May 16, 2019, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mauston, WI.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
