O’CONNELL, John Joseph, age 91, of Kettering, OH, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. John was born on March 29, 1927 in Ft. Thomas, KY to the late John C. and Loretta (Peet) O’Connell.

He graduated from St. Thomas Grade School in Ft. Thomas, KY, Highland High School, and Xavier University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Physics and then went on to obtain his MBA also at Xavier Unversity. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

John started is working career as a Draftsman at Crosley, Frigidaire for over 27 years, Manpower Incorporation where he started the Tech division, and was the Vice President at Broadway Mold. He loved playing golf and was a longtime fan of Notre Dame Football and Xavier Basketball. John was a past Parish Council President at St. Albert the Great Church where he was a long time member.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jacquelin; second wife, Jean Butler Griffith and sister, Peggy O’Connell. John was survived by his children, Collen (Jim) Kennedy, Eileen Clark, John Kevin (Pam) O’Connell, Thomas (Catherine) O’Connell, William (Michael Pirkle) O’Connell, and Michael (Kelly) O’Connell; grandchildren, Kelly, Jim, Katherine, Patrick, Erin, John, Dan, Jackie, Caitlyn, Michael, Nicholas, Nichole, Megan and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Miller, George, Louise and Elia; sister, Mary Smith; step-sons, John (Anne) Griffith, Kevin (Julie) Griffith, Edmund (Anne) Griffith, and Greg (Michael Martin) Griffith; step-grandchildren, Emily, Claire, John, George, Kelly, Amy, Molly, Carly, Holly, Leigh and Luke; and numerus nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave.

Kettering, OH. Private family burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.
