He read about any subject, but particularly read history. Jon always had a garden. Even when he could no longer get out of his scooter/wheelchair, he had a very large box which a friend built for him that was just the right height to garden.
He liked to draw a bear that was his meme and to paint designs on any and all things. He was consumed by, and knowledgeable about, government and politics. Jon was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at age 35 and for 43 years he fought with it, feuded with it, sometimes accepted it, and even called it “his hitchhiker”, but he always found ways and designed implements to live with it until it won in the end.
Jon’s desire was to donate his body to the Willed Body Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 8111 North Stadium Drive #180, Houston, TX 77054 in honor of Jon David.
