OBITUARY Joni Asuncion April 18, 1939 – November 21, 2018 Joni Asuncion (née JoAnne Sandra Huntington) was born April 18, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska. Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, she passed away on November 21, 2018 at St. Joseph’s in Orange, CA. Joni is survived by her husband, Leo, children David and Kristin, sibling Betty and twin sister Jeanette, five grandchildren and many loving relatives, friends, and colleagues.

JoAnne spent a life dedicated to the Catholic Church, to growing young minds, and to bringing music to the world. She taught in various Orange County school districts for 40 years. Her teaching methods were those of patience and kindness, to never overlook a single learner, and to instill a love of learning.

Joni’s gift of music took her to National Championships with Sweet Adelines, winning medals and building lifelong friendships. Joni brought integrity and honesty to all she connected with, but above all a shared smile and the love of God. JoAnne enjoyed traveling and shared many journeys around the world with Leo, her husband and companion of nearly 48 years.
