Jose Maria “Tio Pepe” Martinez died Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in Muleshoe, Texas at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was born March 25, 1936 in Victoria, Texas to Marcelino Gonzales and Macedonia (Rocha) Martinez. Jose was a landscaper.

He loved to draw and ride bikes. He treasured time spent with his nieces and nephews and was an avid fan of old television shows. Jose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his 5 sisters, Santa Cicilia Cempian, Sevastiana Alaniz, Cruz Vasquez, Francisca Martinez and Dora Martinez; and 1 brother, Juan R. Martinez. Jose is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
