Jose Da Silva Esteves Peneda, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Kearny, NJ on Monday, May 6, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal and came to the United States on May 14, 1966. Jose worked for the Heavy and General Construction Laborers Local 472 of Newark for many years retiring in 1988.

Beloved husband of 64 years of Sofia Natalia (Nee Pereira) Peneda; devoted and loving father of John A. Peneda and his wife Maria; dear grandfather of Brian Peneda and his wife Maria Teresa and their son Nico, Sandy Sibley and her husband Michael and their children Nina and Ella. The Funeral Mass for Jose will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 9:00 am at St. Cecilia’s Church in Kearny, NJ. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Visitation for Jose will be held at the Shaw-Buyus Funeral Home at 138 Davis Ave. Kearny, NJ on Tuesday, May 7th from 5 – 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson’s Disease www. michaeljfox.org or Alzheimer’s Association www. alz.org would be graciously appreciated.
