Joseph Albert Alexander Sr., Second son of Louis Anthony Alexander Sr., and Mildred Marie Honare Alexander, was born on March 27th, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He Attended Joseph Clark High School. He later joined the United States Army and later joined the United States Marine Corp in 1954, where he was air paratrooper, which he enjoyed doing.

He also was a truck driver in the United States Army. After leaving the military, he started in the family trade as a plaster, in which he enjoyed doing. He was a master at the trade.

He also enjoyed cooking in which he could cook any Creole dish what would have been on a restaurant’s menu. He learned how to cook from watching his mother cook at an earlier age. He enjoyed being with his family at family functions and showing off his cooking skills and bragging on how good his food tasted.

He was always the life of the party, telling jokes, and making everyone laugh. He was into music in his younger days, playing the trombone and bass guitar, which he enjoyed as well. He is survived by his one son, Joseph Alexander Jr., and his longtime companion, Carolyn Prater.

He has two grandsons, Joseph Branton Faciane, and Jyron Jamal Alexander. He is survived by two great-grandsons, and one great great-grand daughter, and a host of nieces and nephews, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Honare Alexander, and his father, Louis Anthony Alexander Sr, his wife Mildred Ball Alexander, and his siblings Elise Alexander Blunt, Doris Gutierrez, Louis Anthony Alexander Jr, Marion Alexander Williams, Bernell James Alexander Sr, and Veronica Alexander.

He was loved by many people, including family and a host of friends. He was a stern and strong person, and had no problem saying what was on his mind, that was him. He will be truly missed.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, 6828 Chef Menteur Hwy. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until mass time. Interment: Holt Cemetery.
