Joseph’s Obituary Joseph Jankowski, 79, of Dunmore and formerly of Scranton, died Wednesday in Geisinger CMC, Scranton with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Florence Muklewicz Jankowski, who was always faithfully by his side. Joe was born and raised in the Minooka section of Scranton.

He was the son of the late Walter and Jean Wasik Jankowski. A graduate of Moosic High School, he was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish, Scranton. In earlier years, Joe was a member of the band “The Polka Tones” for 40 years.

He worked for Hawk Oil Co. for 30 years until its closing. Later, Joe worked for Penn Dot in Dunmore until his retirement. His favorite pastimes were long drives and day trips with his wife Florence.

He loved to travel to Cooperstown, NY to the Baseball Hall of Fame for Induction Day. These trips included the induction of Carl Yastrzemski (1989) and Pedro Martinez (2015). A diehard Red Sox fan, Joe was also a San Francisco 49ers fan.

He loved watching the golf channel, completing word find puzzles, listening to music, especially the Polkas, and playing the keyboard and accordion. He took great pride in his Lincoln Continental and always displayed his Hall of Fame and Red Sox plates. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepchildren, Rosann Szumski, and husband Eugene; Gino Nalaschi; Michael Nalaschi, and companion Carol; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Jeanie Menti, and husband Joe; a brother Walter Jankowski, and wife Fran; a niece Susan Jankowski; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a loving stepdaughter, Elisa “Helen” Perna; and his beloved favorite grandson, Brian Foley. His faithful canine companions, Muffy and Rosie, also preceded him in death. In accordance with Joe’s wishes there will be no services or calling hours.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family. The Jankowski family has entrusted arrangements to the care of Ferri & Gillette Funeral Services, LLC, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge. To leave a message of consolation visit www.
