Joseph Oliver Boucher Westbrook – Joseph Oliver ‘Joe’ Boucher, 71, passed away peacefully on March 14,2019 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine. He was born June 19, 1947 in Haverhill Massachusetts, the son of Oliver J. Boucher and Francis (Fortier) Boucher. Joe Graduated from Haverhill High School and went on to study at Regents College and Northern Es Community College in Haverhill.

In 1966, Joe Entered the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the Naval Hospital in Chelsea Massachusetts. Upon his discharge, he continued his studies eventually earning his nursing degree and working as an LPN. While in Porstmouth New Hampshire, in 1974, Joe met the man who was to become his lifelong partner and love of his life, Albert Underhill.

He and Albert spent forty-five wonderful years together, eventually being legally married on December 15,2014. Joe was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and had a diverse range of interests he loved sharing with the ones he cared about. Joe loved to exercise his brain doing crossword puzzles, enjoyed games on the computer, and playing all manner of card games.

He enjoyed gardening and the youthful spirit in him enjoyed watching cartoons and he was especially fond of the works of 1. R. R Tolkien.

It didn’t take much prompting to engage him in a lively, in-depth discussion of the Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings. One of his true passions was cooking, and Joe reveled in preparing wonderful meals for friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his Husband, Albert Underhill, and his brother Glen, sisters Darlene, Pat, Heidi and Andrea, as well as their spouses, many nieces and nephews and numerous other family members who loved him dearly. They will all miss his generous heart, infectious smile, and quick wit and sense of humor. It is at the request of Joseph and Albert that a memorial service and burial not be held until such time they can be reunited and buried together.

The family wishes to thank everyone who loved and cared about Joe in his lifetime, as well as the staff of the Gosnell House for the care he received while there. In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
