Joseph Patrick McEnroe Jr., age 82, of Baker City died Monday, May 13, 2019, near his residence. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 20th, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel in Baker City, with Deacon James Watt of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery with a reception following at Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place Street in Baker City.

Joe was born June 9, 1936 in Baker City, Oregon to Joseph Patrick and Sarah Genevieve Bartsche McEnroe. He was raised in Baker City on the family farm and graduated from high school at Baker High School in 1954. He went on to attend Oregon Technical Institute.

Joe moved to the Roseburg area where he had a western store and did lots of creative leather work. He moved home to the family farm in 1976. For a brief period, he opened a store in Baker City and sold real estate for a number of years.

The farm kept him busy all the time. Joe’s hobbies included team roping, hunting, pack trips, fly fishing and custom leather work. He loved his family and was very proud of all of them and all their many accomplishments.

He was loved by many family and friends. Always a gentleman and handsome cowboy. Joe was a member of the Baker Elks Lodge.

Jos is survived by his sons, Craig McEnroe of Dana Point California and Clay McEnroe of Baker City, Oregon; stepsons, Mark DeLong of Baker City, Oregon and Scott DeLong of LaGrande, Oregon; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Joene Bogart and Mary Margaret Hansen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hunt of a Lifetime program through Gray’s West & Company, 1500 Dewey Ave.
