OBITUARY Joseph M. Smolinsky July 28, 1932 – January 6, 2019 Joseph M. Smolinsky, 86, of Plymouth, passed away at Sippican Health care in Marion on January 6, 2019. He passed away peacefully with family at his bedside, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara L. (Lamb) Smolinsky for 61 years.

He was born in Boston, and a native of mission Hill. After graduating from Mission Church high school he joined the Marines and served during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, he was trained as a chef and married his high school sweetheart Barbara.

They had 7 children. He had vested interest in liquor store in Roxbury, where he worked for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 327 in Roxbury, the VFW Post 5988 in Bourne and a devoted Parishioner at St. Margaret’s Church in Buzzards Bay.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Smolinsky, his twin brother John and his younger brother Edward. He is survived by his four daughters, Barbara E. Dearstyne and husband David of Falmouth, Laurie A. Nangle and husband William of Forestdale, Marybeth Cavanaugh and husband Kevin of Glendale, CA and Kathleen O’Mara and husband James of Plymouth; three sons, Joseph J. and wife Joni Rae of Bourne, Stephen W. and wife Lynn of Cedarville and Michael D. and wife Catherine of Bourne; three sisters, Virginia Arner of Florida, Roberta Smolinsky of Florida and Patricia DeMatteo of East Wareham; three brothers Robert of Port Orchard, WA, David of Waltham and Matthew of Florida. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

His funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 11th at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 511 Main St. Falmouth, MA. Interment will be at The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Visiting hours will be held at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 Macarthur Blvd.

, Bourne, MA on Thursday January 10th from 4:00 -8:00 pm. Donations in memory of Joseph may be made to a Veterans organization.
