Joseph T. Powers Jr. 69 of Woodstock died Wednesday January 23, 2019 at his home in Woodstock surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Elgin on April 26, 1949 to Joseph and Agnes (Pfeiffer) Powers. He married Charlotte “Sue” Howard on January 15, 1977 in Crystal Lake.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. For almost 40 years he worked for Meyers Material in McHenry. He was a member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge.

He was a member of the “Pit Crew” for his children’s car racing teams at Rockford Speedway for many years. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. Spending time with his loved ones was always the highlite of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Powers; a son, Jason Powers; a daughter, Kelly (Thomas) Barclay; his granddaughter, Kylie Barclay; also many nieces and nephews and close family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Jimmy. Visitation will be on Monday January 28, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Ave.

Woodstock. The Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday January 29, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will be at the McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery.
