OBITUARY Joseph W. Owens July 21, 1944 – October 30, 2018 Joseph W. Owens Jr., 73 passed away on October 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, following his long battle with cancer. He was born on July 21, 1944 in Fort Wayne, IN, the son of the late Joseph Owens and Helen (Owens) Sgro. Joseph was a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School, Huntington University and Indiana University.

He served in the Air National Guard. He worked at Navistar for over 30 years from where he retired. Joseph was an active member of Faith Baptist Church, and also actively involved with Bible Study Fellowship.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Arleta Owens; daughter, Angela; and granddaughters, Kathryn and Claire Rothenhofer; siblings, David (Diana) Owens, Nancy (David) Robbins, Theodore (Sally) Sgro; sister- in-law, Delphine (Marvin) Frey; father, Carmen Sgro; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Owens; mother, Helen (Owens) Sgro; son-in-law, Douglas Rothenhofer. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Faith Baptist Church, 6600 Trier Rd.

, Fort Wayne, IN 46815, visitation will be held one hour prior. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46815. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Faith Baptist Church.
