March 7, 1996 – May 14, 2018 Joseph Scott Tolentino, 22, of Jefferson, left this world to follow the music to a better place. The son of Gary and Rebecca (Chesebro) Tolentino, he was born in Corvallis. Joseph was a very smart, handsome and talented young man.

Music was his gift and his passion. At a young age, Joe wanted to become a drummer. His parents purchased a set for him and he taught himself to play.

He spent hours upon hours practicing. Joe then added acting, singing, playing piano and guitar. Over time the guitar became a part of him.

He took his guitar everywhere and was constantly playing. It was amazing to listen to him pick up a tune or melody just by listening to a song or a commercial. He loved music so much that he said “listening to music is like someone who wants to be heard who is just telling you “I Love You” in every possible way.

I will never regret how much time I put into music, I will only regret how much time I spend away from it”. He was proud and honored to teach, mentor and help others with anything music related or not. Joe also had a sensitive, genuine and gentle nature.

He was easy going and interacted with kids and others in such an awesome way that you couldn’t help but enjoy spending time with him. Joseph was very accepting and non-judgmental; he was the first one to befriend someone new and he liked who he liked no matter what others thought. You could count on Joe’s unique sense of humor to brighten anyone’s day.

Joseph was/is loved by so many and will be incredibly missed by all. Joseph is survived by his parents, Gary and Rebecca; sisters, Amber and Krysta; Brother in law Ryan; nephew, Aiden, Niece Aria, honorary brothers Josh and Micah, Grandparents Cheryl and Duane, Mick and Terry, Diana, Evelyn and Pete; many aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved dog Sassy. Joseph is preceded in death by his grandpas Richard and Larry.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be at 11:00a.m. Saturday May 26 at Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St. SE Albany, Or. 97321. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Joseph Tolentino, please visit our Tribute Store.
