OBITUARY Joshua Adam Fisher June 1, 1995 – December 26, 2018 Our beloved Joshua Adam Fisher died on Monday, December 24th, 2018 after an accidental overdose. While his death came without notice, Joshua struggled with his life choices, and the concern for his safety was always in the back of our minds. Joshua was preceded in death by his father Adam Fisher and his nana Bonnie O’Brien and is survived by his mother and stepfather Tami and John Gough; his sister Jordan Fisher; his papa Joseph O’Brien, his grandparents Terry and Louise Fisher as well as many other stepbrothers, aunts, uncles and cousins.

We are grateful that when he died, he was at peace and surrounded by the people who loved him most. Joshua was born on June 1, 1995 in Cape Coral, Florida to Adam Fisher and Tami Fisher. He graduated from Ida S. Baker Highschool where, although unannounced, he received the highest achievement of valedictorian.

Joshua was independent and strong with unfaltering opinions, and he certainly left an impact on the lives he touched. Joshua was an incredibly bright individual with an innate drive to succeed. He constantly excelled in school with minimal effort, never receiving a single B in his entire high school career.

With school coming so easily for him, Joshua boldly chose what he thought was the most rewarding career path: the medical field. He quickly found a passion for medicine, and made it his goal to become an Oncologist early in life. He loved to spread his infectious laughter amongst friends, and spend time with his family especially over weekly-scheduled Thursday dinners and family vacations.

Upon his graduation from high school, Joshua was accepted into the University of South Florida with a major in biomedical sciences. He effortlessly dominated his classes, and easily graduated with honors and his Bachelor’s degree. His passion and drive eventually led him to the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he had a short but memorable stay on campus.

Joshua was loved by so many who will continue to cherish the precious time that they spent with him. The memories shared will keep him living on within those who cared for him most. It is through all the laughs and stories that Josh will live alongside the individuals that must continue without him.

Joshua was hilarious, warm, fearless, and resilient. Never afraid to speak his mind or tell you exactly how he felt. Always the first to call you out, and not to embarrass you but to attempt to show you the error of your ways.

His brash nature was the ever-constant reminder of the genuine relationship you shared. He was adored as a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and significant other, but always as a piece of our hearts. Having Joshua in your corner was something we all longed for.

In his final months, Joshua had decided to move home and spend time with family and his girlfriend while figuring out his next move post-medical school. For those last few months, filled with long conversations, get together, Xbox pick-up matches, and family dinners, we believed that he would overcome his obstacles and make the life for himself, the life we knew he was always capable of. Joshua always knew how deeply his family loved him, that we never doubted him and were always by his side.

Through these times, there was nothing but respect and confidence in the way he fought this uphill battle within. There was no shame. We take comfort in knowing that Joshua is finally at peace, unchained from the struggles that haunted him.

We would have given anything for him to experience that bliss in this lifetime, but this must be our compromise. We will never forget him, but instead continue to tell his story every time he crosses our minds. Our grief and sheer heartbreak will never fade, but stand infinitely.

Now he can, too.
