Joyce Ardis Gilbertson, of Wausau, passed away on her 85th birthday on November 24, 2018. She was born on November 24, 1933, in Blanchardville to the late Ted and Mabel (Everson) Thompson. On April 2, 1950, she married Sanford Gilbertson in Monroe, WI.

Joyce worked for Wausau Insurance in the records department until her retirement. In her free time she enjoyed cross stitching and other needle point activities, working in her flower gardens and cooking. She looked forward to family get-togethers, especially over the holidays.

She was also known to enjoy an “occasional” trip to the casino. Survivors include her husband Sanford, Wausau; children Sandra (Michael) Gravitter, Crandon; Gene (Miriam) Gilbertson, Weston; Allen (Dawn) Gilbertson, Weston; Steve (Jamie) Gilbertson, Weston; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Lois Sweeney, Juda; Lela Sweeney, Sparta; several nieces and nephews and family friend Deb Fochs, Schofield. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Merlin Thompson, sisters Helen Anderson and Doreen Judd.
