Joyce was born November 21, 1934 in Davis to the late George and Clara (Anthony) Sweeten. She died Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Davis, at the age of 84 years and 15 days. Joyce and C.L. “Short” Butler were married on August 18, 1953 in Davis.

He always made sure she had everything she desired. She had a very happy, peaceful outlook on life. Joyce was a very talented writer, authoring countless poems.

She loved caring for her cats and never passed up the chance to have a piece of chocolate. Survivors include one sister, Marie Crandall & husband Tommy of Sour Lake, TX; one niece, Karen Kasseroler & husband Larry of Lumberton, TX; and two nephews, Keith Crandall & wife Dana of Bartonville, TX and Andy Crandall & wife Kathy of Groves, TX.
