East Palestine-Joyce Elaine Fry Kern, age 60, of East Palestine, passed away on December 17, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born on October 25, 1958 in Salem, a daughter of Jane Camp Fry Jackson and the late William E. Fry. Joyce was a lifetime area resident and had worked as a bartender for many years.

She is survived by her mother, Jane Camp Fry Jackson of Leetonia; three sons, Paul J. Kern of East Palestine, Matthew D. Kern of Leetonia, and Cory A. Kern of Marshalls Creek, PA; brother, Howard J. Fry of Stroudsburg, PA; two sisters, Janice E. Long of Banger, PA, and Kathy A. Messerel of Florence, SC; stepbrothers Daron Jackson of Salem and William Jackson Jr. of Washingtonville. Also surviving are five grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her father William E. Fry, Sr., step father William E. Jackson Sr., and a brother William E. Fry, Jr. At her request, no services will be held.
