Joyce Elizabeth Wills April 13, 1934 – February 24, 2019 Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Joyce Elizabeth Wills April 13, 1934 – February 24, 2019 Joyce Elizabeth Wills, 84, passed away on February 24, surrounded by family, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, WA. Joyce was born in Aberdeen, WA in 1934 to Howard and Pearl Henderson and was raised in Vancouver WA . In 1952 she attended Washington State University and it was there she met Jim.
They were married in Vancouver WA, June of 1953 and together they started their happy life of 65 years. Family, friends, and community were the centerpieces of her life. In earlier years, while raising their four children, she partnered alongside Jim operating restaurants in Cheney and Spokane WA.
In 1966 they moved to Pullman and resided there until 2016. There, she was involved in many community groups. Joyce was a 50-year member in the Pullman PEO Chapter DW and Tri-Delta Sorority at WSU and was employed at the WSU bookstore.
Joyce was a longtime member of the Community Congregational Church, served on various committees and volunted in the church thrift shop. She donated time to Pullman Memorial Hospital as a Candy Striper. As an avid reader, she was a life member of the Ingleside Book Club.
She treasured her local birthday club, celebrating with special friends. Joyce was a skilled seamstress, took pride in her rose garden, and shared her love of music and singing. She delighted in neighborhood dinner parties, Christmas tree hunts, and years traveling with lifelong friends.
Joyce had a fondness for Cannon Beach and enjoyed memorable times at the family cabin in Priest Lake, ID. In April of 2016, she and Jim moved to Wenatchee to be closer to children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Pearl Henderson and sister, Carol Preller.
Joyce is survived by four children: Sherri Wills, Howard (Skip) Wills, Susan Miller (Richard), and Nancy Barrett (Dan). Six grandchildren: James Wiley (Dzhan), Benjamin Wiley (Kate), Jessica Drake, Kaitlynn Barrett-Ashbaugh (Greg), Max Miller and Claire Krause. Four great grandchildren: Sylvan, Rheya, Tristan, Benjamin.
A memorial service will take place in the spring of 2019 in Pullman, WA. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements. In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: The PEO Scholarship fund.
