Joyce L. Pifer, 83, of 907 Bush Hollow Road, Pennsdale, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at her home. Born July 26, 1935 in South Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Vivian (Swarthout) Halderman. She and her husband, Robert F. Pifer, celebrated 56 years of marriage before his death Jan.

6, 2011. Joyce attended Williamsport High School. She worked various jobs locally and retired from Frey’s Commissary, where she prepared meals for Meals on Wheels.

Joyce loved watching golf and football. She also enjoyed doing crossword and word search puzzles. Surviving are five daughters and three sons-in-law, Judith E. Rasley, of Mt.

Bethel, Lynn N. and James Stugart, of Muncy, Michele A. and Floyd Fry Jr., of Pennsdale, Ellen L. Derr and Diane L. and Harry Wanamaker, all of Williamsport; a brother, Eugene Halderman, of Erie; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Robert S. Pifer, who died in 1982; two brothers, Bobby Doug and Gary Halderman; a sister, Sandy Stabler; son-in-law, Charles Rasley; and a grandson, Charlie T. Rasley. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev.

Arlene Beechert, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Muncy. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park. The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.
