He spent his final moments surrounded by the friends and family who had brought so much joy into his life. Albert was born in 1960 in Del Rio, Texas, to Mary (Gallegos) and Juan Alberto Moreno, Sr

He was the eldest of four children in a family with deep Texan roots. Having moved to Santa Clara as a child with his family, he quickly traded his cowboy boots for a lifelong love of the California coast. Albert met the love of his life, the former Lourdes Patricia Navarro, in 1982 at San Jose’s Primera Iglesia Bautista del Sur.

Marrying in 1986, they moved to Gilroy a year later to raise the first of three daughters. Albert began his career with the Los Gatos Sheriff’s Department, but found his true calling as an electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a 35-year member of the IBEW and served with special distinction as an instructor at the Joint Apprenticeship Training Center in San Jose.

Albert also worked as an electrical and building inspector for the city of San Jose, retiring in 2018 after twenty years’ honorable service. He was a pillar of the Gilroy community, organizing its annual John Bolla Golf Tournament, proceeds donated to the Gilroy Veterans’ Paver Project. Albert is survived by his wife Patricia; daughters Amanda, Jacqueline, and Madeline; grandchildren Alfredo III and Isabella; brothers Joseph and Robert; sister Iris; and his father, Juan Alberto Sr

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary. A memorial service will be held in Albert’s honor from 4:00PM to 6:30PM followed by a Celebration of life from 6:30PM to 9PM on Sunday, January 27th at Gilroy Veterans’ Hall, 74 West Sixth Street, Gilroy, California.
