Juanita Irene Daniel passed from this life on September 12, 2018 in Mooreland, Oklahoma. She was laid to rest on September 14, 2018 in a private family celebration of her long and rich life led by Scott Mitchell. Juanita was born October 9, 1927 near Greenfield in Blaine County, Oklahoma to Clyde L. and Blanche Erma Smith.

Juanita married John F. Daniel, Jr. on May 21, 1945 at Watonga, Oklahoma in a double ceremony with her sister, Maxine, and Leonard Robinett on the sisters’ parents’… Read More » wedding anniversary. Juanita graduated from Greenfield High School in 1945. John and Juanita lived in California for a short while and returned to Oklahoma to attend what is now Southwestern State University and she received her cosmetology degree.

They were living and working in Watonga when their daughter, Sherry, was born. After traveling to Woodward to help with the Woodward tornado recovery in 1947, John moved them to Woodward where she worked as a beautician. Juanita eventually opened her own shop upstairs in Northup Jewelry after she and John purchased the store.

For a while she owned and managed two salons. Before opening her first shop she, John and Sherry lived in the jewelry store’s upstairs apartment and during that time their son, Terry, was born and they decided a jewelry store was not the place to raise a baby. Health issues forced Juanita to leave the beauty business and she became a saleswoman and financial manager at Northup Jewelry.

She and John were amazed at how quickly she adapted to her new career. She was active in the Chamber of Commerce and changing the look of Main Street. She always made time to help with her children’s school and church events.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and Eastern Star. Juanita had a gregarious and generous personality and positively influenced many family members and friends. She will be missed greatly and remembered with a smile of gratitude.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of over 73 years, John and her children, Sherry Kraisinger Mulkey and Terry Daniel and his wife, Debi Daniel of Woodward, Oklahoma; two sisters, Pauline Johannes of Lawton and Sharon Cunningham and her husband, Ben of Owasso; one brother, Bill Smith of Norman; five grandchildren: Kandyce Mitchell and husband Scott; Kory Kraisinger and wife, Nancy; Trevor Daniel and wife Alicia; Zack Daniel and wife, April; and Tatum Nitzel and husband, Michael Nitzel. She was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren: Sean McAtee, Liberty and Joey Mitchell; Kori Beth, Jonathon and Lillian Kraisinger; Brianna Daniel; Macy Rae and Jared Nitzell; Bailey and Wade Daniel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Blanche Smith; her in-laws, John and Lessie Daniel; her sisters Maxine Robinett and Karon Roach; her brother Marvin Smith; her brothers-in-law, Leonard Robinett and Richard Johannes; her son-in-law, John Mulkey; one step-grandson, Eathan Turner, a special nephew, Troy Cunningham and a special niece Cindy Johannes.
