Judith Howard, age 72 of Norwalk died at her home Wednesday morning, May 15th, 2019. The family will have a private memorial service. Memorial contributions to the Animal Rescue League will be accepted.

When a young girl, Judy’s entire family moved to the Long Beach, CA area where she graduated from high school. Judy had three children, Ted, Lori, and Tom before moving back to Iowa where Teresa, her fourth child, was born a few years later. Most of her career Judy worked as a bookkeeper.

She worked at Belin Law Firm, where she retired in 2013 after working 28 years. Judy enjoyed reading novels by Stuart Wood and James Patterson. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in West Des Moines and when she couldn’t attend church there, she would listen to their sermons on-line.

Judy adored and loved her four children and nine grandchildren. As a doting grandmother she would help babysit and attend school activities. Over her life-time Judy adopted several dogs; most recently her chihuahua, named Duke, has been watching over Judy, providing comfort when she passed.

Judy passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday morning, May 15th, 2019. She lived 72 years and 4 months. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Dave and Bobby.

Those left to honor Judy’s legacy include her four children, Ted (Kim) Solwick of Orlando, FL, Lori Means of Norwalk, Tom Solwick of southern California, Teresa (Eric) Haugen of Ankeny, Iowa; nine grandchildren Lanie Means, Jonathan Solwick, Danny Solwick, Jessica Haugen, Alyssa Solwick, Derek Means, Andrew Haugen, Jayden Kain, and Lily Haugen; a brother, John (Judy) Saffell of Missouri; and host of family and friends.
