Obituary for Judson Jeffrey Harris Judson J. Harris, age 35, passed away October 15, 2018. He was born in Richmond, VA on September 1, 1983. Judson grew up with his younger sister, Lilly King, in Spotsylvania, VA.
From a young age, he became interested in music, photography, videography and drawing. He was an artist and intellectual. He played drums and guitar.
He was an avid reader and writer. He had vast knowledge of many subjects, from history to politics to literature. He was very much his own person, refusing to bow to conformity with a rare determination that was unshakeable.
He was quiet and observant, but he was a natural leader and trendsetter. Judson came into this world with the determination that the world would not mold him; instead, he would mold the world. He was true to himself his entire life, not once backing down to society’s many demands that he submit to mediocrity.
When he was younger, often he was criticized and vilified by many authority figures for refusing to conform to their demands of who he should be. He was a peaceful member of society who had a strong set of values and morals, usually much more so than those who condemned him. Judson was famous for his sense of humor, brilliance, compassion, and creativity.
He left behind a vast collection of artwork, writings, video and photography. Tragically, Judson succumbed to his lifelong struggle with drug addiction. But he left an indelible mark on countless people by being a good friend to many.
He was loved and adored by his family and friends. Judson is survived by his mother, Patty King; his sister, Lilly Buchanan; brother in law, Steve Buchanan; his step-father, Ed King; his grandmother, Lynn Hulett; his aunt, Lina Hovey; Uncle, Lavern Hovey; his cousins, Isabel Hovey, Emma Boyd, and Paul Hovey; his aunt, Linda Harris; uncle, Rigo Abrahams; and too many friends to name. Last but not least, he left behind his beloved dog and best friend, Sal Paradise.
Since he is not here to speak his final words, I hope that he would be happy with my quoting his favorite author, Hunter S. Thompson: “Walk tall, kick ass, learn to speak Arabic, love music and never forget you come from a long line of truth seekers, lovers and warriors”.
