Judy’s Obituary Memorial Services for Judy Hoffman, age 77, of Butte, Nebraska will be 10:30 am Friday, May 31, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Butte, Nebraska with Paster Hasskarl officiating Memorial Visitation will be from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Butte. Judy passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.

Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements. Judy Noreen Labahn was born on July 10, 1941 at Burke, South Dakota to Vernon and Iola (Ragan) Labahn. She graduated from Gregory High School in 1959.

After graduating, she worked several secretarial jobs, including at the South Dakota Farmers Union in Fairfax, South Dakota. Judy met Verlon Hoffman at a dance in Winner, South Dakota and the couple later married on October 9, 1965 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gregory, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Butte, Nebraska.

To this union, one son was born, Jason. Judy worked for Northern Propane for a time and as a secretary for the Butte High School. Later, she worked for many years in the laundry department for the Butte Nursing Home before retiring in 2003.

Judy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Butte. She was an avid reader. Judy liked to bowl, embroider, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy.

She was an excellent cook and some of Jason’s fondest memories will be the time spent with his mother in her kitchen canning. Judy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Verlon Hoffman of Butte; her son, Jason Hoffman of Butte; seven siblings, Barb Sanders of O’Neill, Kay Grim of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Connie (Jim) Moore of Springfield, Missouri, Patty (Jim) Kuchta of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Roger (Melody) Labahn of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Cindy (Troy) Binde of Watertown, South Dakota, Janet (Tom) Gilbertson of Sturm, Wisconsin; one sister-in-law, Patti Labahn of Springfield, Missouri; many nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gene Labahn, Lynn Labahn; two brothers-in-law, Robert Sanders and Ray Grim.
