Obituary for Julia Mitchell Julia Mitchell was born March 26, 1940 in Union, Mississippi to the union of Curry and Anna Lucille Viverette Sr. As a young girl Julia moved from Mississippi to Pennsylvania to Illinois. She settled in East Chicago Heights, Illinois, where she called home. Julia married and had 3 children Mary, Curtis and Charles but her love of children and family led her to raise another five children, as if they were her own.

Julia loved the Lord. She joined Peace Baptist Church under Rev. James King.

She was a spiritual person who enjoyed reading her Bible, served as the Sunday school secretary, and sat on the Usher board. Her failing health met she could not attend weekly but she kept the Lord in her heart by watching church TV and listening to gospel music. She was a people person.

Julia never met a stranger, would talk to anyone and her smiles and hugs were legend in the village. If you needed a kind word or encouragement Julia was your girl. On August 16, 2018, Julia Ann Mitchell, heard her Lord and Savior say ”Well done my good and faithful servant”, closed her eyes and rested from her labors.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; step mother Maggie Viverette; five children Charles, Dennis, Floyd, Eugene and Christine; and two brothers Rudolph and Curry Jr. Julia leaves to cherish her memory 1 daughter Mary; 1 son Curtis; 27 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 2 Brothers Jimmie (Ester) and Rufus; 1 sister Doris; special friends Henry Perkins and Claudia Johnson; and a host of relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
