Julie Susoreny (nee Danko) 99 of Tempe, Arizona, formerly of Whiting, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 in Arizona. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Andrew J. Susoreny who passed away December 22, 1996. She is survived by her remarkable son, Allan (Cynthia) Susoreny; cherished grandmother of Tige A. Susoreny and Alicia (Dan) Schaar; adoring great grandma of Andrew J., Collin and Rebecca Schaar; loving sister of Mary “Mimi” Danko, Ernest (late Betty) Danko and the late Andrew (late Lorraine) Danko; many dear nieces, nephews and cousins of the Danko and Susoreny Families; surrogate mother of Joyce Jackna, who immigrated from the Phillipines.

She was also preceded in death by her most precious daughter and caregiver, Sandra S. (late Roger) Mandrella on August 9, 2015. Private graveside services were held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Scherereville with Elders Randall Jackna and John Bauer, officiating. There was no visitation.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. Julie Susoreny was born on December 20, 1918 in Whiting, Indiana to Andy and Theresa (Jacko) Danko. She was a longtime resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community and was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1936.

She was a member of the Whiting-Robertsdale Senior Citizens Club (past president), the Whiting-Robertsdale Historical Society, the Standard Oil Annuitants Club and AMOCARES. Julie was a retiree of the JC Penny Co. with a service of 26 years. In years past, Julie and Andy had opened their home to foreign exchange students from the Netherlands and Canada.

She was a very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Hammond, where she served in many capacities. She would also host a Bible StoryTime in her home for the neighborhood children. Devoted to her family, Julie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
