June Alice Cline Roen-Newhouse, age 93, of Grygla, MN, passed away December 20, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. June was born to John Logan Cline and Maude Alice Raines on June 7, 1925, in Koochinging County, MN. After the passing of her father in 1929, June and her siblings were sent to the state orphanage and she resided there throughout her childhood.

She eventually left the orphanage to stay with her sister and later graduated from Bemidji High School. June met the love of her life, Russell B. Roen in Thief River Falls, MN. They married soon after in St. Hillaire, MN on September 28, 1946 and moved to the Minneapolis area.

They lived in Mounds View, MN, were they raised their children until 1976, then finally settling in Thorhult, MN. After Russell’s death, June married Elmer Newhouse. The couple made their home in Grygla, MN.

June was a wonderful mother and homemaker. June loved to spend time with her family and traveling. She loved to fish, dance, and go camping.

Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, other crafts, and baking for her family. June is survived by her children: Joel (Mary) Roen, Webster, WI, Darlyne Moe-Roen, Grygla, MN, Suzan Lewis, TX, and Anne (Butch) Brawley, Garrison, ND; Grandchildren: Jenilee Rowley, Stephanie (Travis) Torgerson, Danelle Roen, Betsy Roen, Jonathon (Paige Lawinger) Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Russell (Ashley) Brawley, Rylan Brawley, and Royce Brawley; Great-Granchildren: Violet Rowley, Sawyer Torgerson, Tanner Torgerson, Tyrel Osborn, Rozolyn Osborn, Ole Roen-Hoffman, Vaida Lewis, and Reagen Brawley; Sister: Dorothy “Dode” Blair, Orr, MN; and other relatives and friends. June is preceded in death by her first husband: Russell Blanchard Roen; her second husband: Elmer Newhouse; Son: Thomas Ole Roen; Brothers: Paul Wesley Cline, Elmer James Cline, Edward John Filmore Cline, Lawrence James Cline, Charles Logan Cline, Patrick Cline, LeRoy Cline, and Ray Gausman; Sisters: Margaret Clara St. Lawrence, Helen Olena Kelm, and Viola Elizabeth Parson.

May God richly bless the memory of June Alice Cline Roen-Newhouse. There will be a graveside service in the spring at Rosebud Cemetery in Thorhult, MN that will be announced at a later date.
