Obituary for Karen Kaye Shimshack Mrs. Karen Shimshack, 62 of Navasota, passed away Friday, November 16th at her home. Her family plans to have a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Karen was born on June 30, 1956 in Navasota to Stash, Sr., and Beverly (Roberts) Shimshack. She married Mike McGrath and together they shared life and made memories. She loved the outdoors and was blessed to have worked most of her life in plant nurseries and landscape/design.

She enjoyed working in her yard, surrounding herself with beautiful plants, flowers and trees. She always looked forward to trips to Matagorda and time spent on the beach. Karen had a beautiful smile and was a kind, caring and loving woman who cherished her family.

Left to cherish their memories are her husband, Mike McGrath; daughter Sharon Schultz; son Robert Allen McGrath; sister Patricia Shimshack and five grandchildren. Karen was preceeded in death by her parents, sister Donna Benoit and brothers Pete and Stash “Bubba” Shimshack, Jr. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family asks that those who knew and loved her take time to enjoy nature and perhaps plant a tree in her memory.
