Obituary of Karen Syrcle Karen Lynn Syrcle, 73, passed away on September 28, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. Karen and her twin sister, Sharon, were born in Yakima, Washington on March 24, 1945 to Mr. and Mrs. Stan Smoot. They joined older sister Bobbi Jean at the Smoot home.

Karen graduated from Davis High School in Yakima in 1963. She became a Registered Nurse and work in pediatrics until a back injury forced her to retire. She was married to David Syrcle on April 5, 1975.

Karen was General Manager of the Yakima Speedway for several years and became the first woman in the country to hold a NASCAR promoter’s license. As empty nesters, Dave and Karen relocated to Spokane Valley in 2000. Karen then took a job with Acosta as Merchandising Manager until she retired.

Karen is survived by her husband, Dave; sons Mike and Steve, daughter in law Christy, grandchildren Cassie, Nathan and Spencer. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Cindy and two sisters. Karen also leaves behind her beloved buddy, Gizmo, her constant canine companion through her illness.

A celebration of life will be held at their home on Saturday October 13, 2018 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
