Obituary for Karl Gier Karl A Gier of Waukesha passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the age of 82 years. He was born in West Allis on November 7, 1935, the son of J. William Gier and Cecilia (nee Peters) Gier. The family moved to Waukesha and Karl graduated from Catholic Memorial High School in 1954.

Karl was in the National Guard and had a passion for trains. He worked for over 40 years for the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line and lastly for the CNN Railroad as a switchman and conductor. In 1969 Karl wed Kathleen (nee Uglum).

They were married for 10 years. He was a busy dad and sometimes worked two jobs by driving the school bus in addition to the railroad. Karl was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was an altar boy growing up, active in the Holy Name Society, choir, and lastly as an usher.

He will be deeply missed by his children Jennifer (Tony) Waschow of Waukesha, Pauline (Randy) Sullinger of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Corinne, Sarah, and Kendall Waschow, Timothy Andrew “Craig”, Elaina and Rebecca Sullinger; brothers Fred, John (Marge), and sister Rita. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by both of his parents, William and Cecilia, sister Mary, and wife Kathleen.

The visitation for Karl will be held Friday April 20, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until the start of services at 4:00 p.m. St. Joseph Catholic Church, 818 N East Ave, Waukesha, WI 53186. In Lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the family and Caring Place 810 N East Ave, Waukesha, WI 53186.
