Obituary for Karolyn Jean Garstin Karolyn Jean Garstin March 10, 1947 – June 1, 2018 Karolyn Jean Garstin passed away early June 1st after an 11 year battle with cancer. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister and wife. She was born on March 10th in Cincinnati Ohio to Melvin and Geneva VonBargen.

She was the oldest of 6 children. She married David as her eternal companion in the Washington DC temple on July 28th 1979. Family was of utmost importance to Karolyn.

She spent most of her life mothering and caring for others. She always made sure that she had a home of order, comfort, and cleanliness. She found light in her grandchildren and was always ready to share the latest news in their accomplishments.

She loved receiving pictures of them and showing them off. She was happy providing whatever was needed to help her children and grandchildren succeed. She had an amazing ability to make anyone she was speaking to feel loved and important.

Karolyn has many accomplishments in her life. She loved to cook and always had an amazing meal ready for anyone who came to visit. They would be treated like royalty at a perfectly set table.

She had a remarkable knack for decorating and her home would rival the best Martha Stewart could put out! If any task needed to be accomplished, Karolyn could pull it off and make it look fabulous! Karolyn loved to craft and create.

She also loved to read about church leaders and doctrine as well as health and wellness. Karolyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She absolutely loved the gospel and immersed herself in her callings and service.

She held many church callings and preformed countless acts of service in her years as a member of the LDS faith. She found much joy in teaching and mentoring others in the gospel. She made friends wherever she went and always was ready with a smile for anyone who needed one.

It’s difficult to describe in a few short paragraphs the life led by such a marvelous woman. Her life was spent serving in and living the gospel. She loved life and those around her.

She will be missed and the legacy she leaves behind will strengthen us until we are all together again. Karolyn is survived by her husband: David J. Garstin. Her children: Shannon, Gary, Marilyn, Jonathan, Matthew, Brittany and April, as well as her 17 grandchildren.

Also by her Sisters: Joan, Pat and Jackie. Karolyn leaves behind many other family members and friends that love her dearly. Her funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the LDS Chapel at 6986 West McCuiston Avenue, Herriman, UT where a viewing will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Interment at the Herriman City Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to her family at 7022 Dylan Loop Rd, Herriman, Utah. Upcoming Events Funeral Services 2018 JUN 6.
