OBITUARY Katherine Humfleet August 14, 1933 – January 19, 2019 Katherine Dunn Humfleet, 85, of Speedwell, TN born August 14, 1933 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2019. She passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family. Katherine was a loving mother, grandmother and devoted Christian who loved Jesus and her family more than anything.

She was a long time member of Carr’s Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher and church treasurer for many years. Katherine was proceeded in death by her husband Dorsey Humfleet, her parents, Lottie and Horace Lee Dunn, and her brothers Max and Glen Dunn. She leaves behind her family who loved her dearly, daughters Sheree and John Schneider (Speedwell), Brenda and Dan Graves (Speedwell); three grandchildren, Andrea Schneider (Speedwell), Deborah and Jared Treece (Leavenworth, KS), and Christopher Graves (Bentonville, AR).

She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Icia Dunn and Patty Moyers (Speedwell); Dorothy Adams and Jenny (Donny) Fultz (Middlesboro); a host of nieces and nephews; especially her great niece Dee (Dave) Nicholas (Monroeville, PA) for her support and care. Several people were responsible for helping with her care and the family would like to thank her caregivers Cathy McCartt and Bonnie Mabes, who loved her like family. Katherine was a faithful member of her church and was active in her community.

Many of her Sunday School students have fond memories of her teaching. She served as a self-employed bookkeeper and everyone in the community likely remembers her faithful service. She will missed by her church, friends and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Carr’s Chapel Baptist Church, 5751 Highway 63, Speedwell, TN. The funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm. Rev.

Mike (Marilyn) Humfleet will preach his aunt’s funeral assisted by Rev. Steve Elkins with special music provided by Brian Giles. Interment will follow at the Carr Cemetery (Speedwell) on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11:00 am.

Pallbearers are Christopher Graves, Dan Graves, John Schneider, Jared Treece, Jeff Dunn, Steve Dunn, Greg Hatmaker and David Nicholas. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Hatmaker, Rufus Dunn, and Ronny Dunn along with the men of Carr’s Chapel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, a project through Samaritan’s Purse that was dear to Katherine’s heart.

The family wishes to extend a hearty Christian thank you to our extended families and our loving church family. We would also like to thank the amazing employees of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for their loving care.
