OBITUARY Katherine Rose Boehme May 17, 1934 – November 2, 2018 Katherine Rose Boehme, 84, of Deerfield Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2018 at her home after a long illness. She is the loving daughter of Angelo and Lucy Scalzo of Deerfield Beach, FL who are deceased. Katherine and her former husband Richard W Boehme, also deceased, are the parents of Gregory A Boehme, deceased, of Deerfield Beach, Douglas W Boehme (Renee) of Woodbury, MN, and Jeffrey M Boehme of Ft.

Lauderdale, FL. She deeply loved her three grandchildren, Shauna Hack (Jordan) of LaGrange, KY, and Blake and Grant Boehme of Woodbury, MN. She is also a great-grandmother to Emily and Colton Hack of LaGrange, KY.

Her only sister Barbara Oakley and brother-in-law Frank Oakley of Dunwoody, GA loved Katherine very much and became great friends as the years went by. Katherine is also the dear aunt of Dawn and Andrew Diffin of Chantilly, VA, Darren and Leslie Oakley of Siler City, NC, and April and James Blount of Lawrenceville, GA. She is the great aunt to 14 nieces and nephews.

They are Kiley, Sydney, Mya and Jada Diffin, Morgan, Hiram, Landon, Annie, Emma, Hannah, Ephraim, and Ava Oakley, and Ammon and Jessie Blount. Katherine went to Red Bank HS, Red Bank, N.J. She was a cheerleader for the school’s athletic teams.

She graduated with the third highest grade point average in her class. She attended and graduated from Trenton State Teachers College where she received a B.S degree in education. She was a member of the Gamma Sigma Sorority.

She was the first member of her family to graduate from college. She taught grammar school for 45 years from the time she graduated from college until her retirement. She loved teaching and spent many hours after school grading papers and preparing for the next school day.

Katherine was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many positions in the church such as an early morning seminary teacher to the youth of the church between the ages of 14-18. She was also a Primary teacher, a compassionate service committee member, a teacher in the Relief Society (the women’s organization) and was the church chorister.

She also sang in the church choir. She served as a temple worker in the Orlando, Florida Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the temple and loved serving there.

She also served in the Family History Center of the church in Coral Springs, Florida. Katherine loved music and dancing. Her parents gave her piano lessons at an early age.

She loved to dance and took many opportunities to dance in local dance groups in south Florida. She also enjoyed attending the singles dances in the church. She especially loved ballroom dancing with her good friend David Collins.

Katherine loved people and especially loved her dear friends in the church, and in the community. She was always giving to the various people in need and to many charitable organizations. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3201 Lyons Rd. , Coconut Creek, FL 33063, on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The viewing will be held at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the same building prior to the service.

Interment will be at the Boca Raton Mausoleum immediately after the funeral service. The Boehme family would like to extend their gratitude to all those who helped Katherine in her last months, for their tenderness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or Hospice Care in her name.
