Katherine Taylor Atkins, 92, of Florence, went home to be with the Lord April 18, 2018. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church and Peggy Hyde’s class; an avid golfer at Turtle Point Country Club; and she loved to play bridge and watch Auburn football. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 12-1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Chris Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Alta Taylor; brother, Jay Taylor; and sisters, Virginia Dennis, Pat Lee, and Boots McCrary.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Tate (Joe); son, Steve Atkins (Judy); sister, Jo Anne Fryer; grandchildren, Brooke Beck (Brock), Matt Tate (Christina), Stephanie, Kim and Morgan Atkins; and great-grandchildren, Tate and Wyatt Beck. Pallbearers will be Joe Tate, Matt Tate, Brock Beck, Sam Taylor McCrary, Ben Fryer, and Trey Burns. She loved and adored all her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Brenda Hill, an Angel on earth, Stella Roberson, North Alabama Hospice, Elder Care, and Brad McAnally in helping her with the journey to her eternal home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236-1767.
