Obituary for Kathleen “Cass” FitzPatrick KATHLEEN E. “CASS” FITZPATRICK (nee McVey), age 93, of Gloucester City, NJ, passed away on July 12, 2018, peacefully at home. Born January 31, 1925, in Gloucester City, the beloved daughter of John McVey and Anna Zee McVey Ritchie. She was predeceased by her parents and stepfather, William Ritchie, dear sisters Anna Theresa Powell, Mary Frances Brownawell, Dolores R. Bowe, Son-in-Law Charles N. Seidel, and great grandchild, Isabella Seidel.

She was the loving mother of Maureen Seidel, Edward J. FitzPatrick III (Kristi), Kathleen Hall (Ronald), and Patricia Hutcheson (John). Beloved Grandmother of Amanda, Charles (Bobbie Jo), Aileen (Brian), Ronald Jr. (Tracey), Brian, Katherine (Charles), Christina (Jason), Lillian, Colleen, and Great Grandchildren Emily, Christopher, Joseph, Charles, Patrick, Abby, and Cooper. She is also survived by her lifelong friends Theresa and George Graham.

Cass was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, attended St. Mary’s Grammar School, and graduated from St. Mary’s High School, after which she worked for the Draft Board during World War II. She later retired from JC Penney’s, where she made lifelong friends, dubbed the “JC Penny’s Pizza Ladies,” who still meet up monthly. She was also a proud, long-time member of the Gloucester City Senior Citizens Group.

She was the family Historian, an avid reader, who loved to knit, crochet, and watch old-time singing cowboy westerns. Relatives and friends are invited to meet Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 426 Monmouth St. in Gloucester City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Hurffville, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations in Cass’ name be made to either the Needy Children’s Christmas Fund, P. O. Box 87, Gloucester City, NJ 08030 or the Camden County Animal Shelter, 125 County House Rd. , Blackwood NJ 08012 or online at www.
