Kelvin Abernathy, age 58, born October 13, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio, entered into eternal peace Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Kelvin was a graduate of Nettie Lee Roth High School, Class of 1977. He found his true calling when he relocated to Minneapolis, MN.

Kelvin originally served as a volunteer at North Point Health and Wellness Center before being hired in the food service department. He never met a stranger, was known for always helping others and consistently confessed his love for God. Kelvin had an impact on people who came in contact with him.

He used his testimonial life of trials and tribulation to encourage others to reach for higher heights. Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence W. Abernathy Sr. and Gladys Smith Abernathy; sister, Donna Abernathy; paternal grandparents, George and Reather Abernathy; maternal grandparents, Douglas Smith and Joella Lindsay Smith; uncles, Hobert Abernathy, James Abernathy, George Abernathy, Johnny Smith, James Smith, Marian Smith; aunts, Lee Ethel Smith, Mabel Kershaw, Nannie Means, Lois Crawford, Mildred Jamison. Kelvin is survived by son, Damian Turner; grandchildren, Donovan Turner, Taleya Turner of Dayton; brothers, Steven L. Abernathy (Denise) of Dayton, Clarence W. Abernathy Jr. (Sharon) of Indianapolis, IN; uncle, Russell Abernathy Sr. of Dayton; aunts, Etta Mae Goode, Alese LaGree of North Carolina, Mazetta Abernathy of Union, SC, Sharron Abernathy of Dayton; nephews, Donnie Abernathy,of Indianapolis, IN, Dion Bradley, Dominique Abernathy of Dayton; nieces, Stacy Abernathy, Sierra Abernathy-Woods, Ambria Abernathy of Indianapolis, IN; loving cousins of Dayton, Ohio, South and North Carolina; special friends, Darlinda Turner, Cassandra D. Williams of Dayton, Naomi Weh (children—Armanie Van Mol, Aart-Jan Foiryolo) of Minneapolis, MN, Larry Bruso of Minneapolis, MN, Tony Lawson, Andre Phillips, Charlie Simmons of Dayton; a host of other relatives, friends, co-workers and neighbors.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, September 21, 2018 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Visitation 9 am at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
