Ken Fischman, age 84 of Minnetonka, died May 4, surrounded by loving family. Preceded in death by parents, Sam and Sylvia Fischman; son, Danny. Ken passed away after navigating cancer and other health issues.

An avid card and backgammon player (and dedicated spinner), Ken loved to gab with his buddies at the JCC, over a game of pool, on the golf course, or while chatting about a book he may or may not have finished for his book club. Ken was a jazz lover and sports enthusiast. As a former Minnesota Gopher football player and boxer, he was active with the M Club and a long-time season ticket holder for men’s basketball and football.

Ken spent decades as a traveling salesman, selling jackets for most of his life and long underwear in his “semi-retirement”. He had a large personality and a gift for storytelling. Honesty, integrity, loyalty, humor, and relationships were all words that defined him, in life and work.

He was a loyal and dedicated friend to many, and will be greatly missed by many friends and family. Family wishes to thank the caring team at Fairview Southdale Hospital, who made his final days as peaceful as possible; and his dedicated oncologist, Dr. Steve Rousey and the team. Ken is survived by his long time significant other, Chris Pierce; his son, Joey; daughter, Tracy (Paul Gore); grandchildren, Talia and Jacob; Chris’s children and grandchildren; Ken’s former wife, Natalie Fischman; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
