Obituary for Kenneth W. Shettle, Sr. Master Sergeant Kenneth W. Shettle, Sr., US Air Force, Ret. , 75, of Blythewood, died Wednesday, October 31, 2018. Born in South Norfolk, VA, on February 7, 1943, he was a son of the late Vernon Joseph Shettle, Sr. and the late Martha Beatrice Parker.

He was a US Air Force retiree who honorably served his country for 20 years. During his enlistment, MSgt Shettle was deployed in the Vietnam War and received many commendations throughout his career. After his military retirement, he was employed by the US Department of Defense for 20 years as a defense contractor administrator.

MSgt Shettle’s life revolved around his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved to travel and his career allowed he and his family to relocate to many different areas of the United States and the world. When he wasn’t spending time with his family or traveling the country in their motor home, MSgt Shettle enjoyed researching his family’s genealogy and cheering for his Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Cleveland Indians.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Frances M. Shettle; children, Sharon Shettle D’Andrea (Don) of Sewell, NJ, Terri Lyne Shettle (Melissa) of Sacramento, CA, Kenneth W. Shettle, II (Tanya) of Blythewood, Carolyn Shettle Faulkenberry (Bret) of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Michael D’Andrea (Maxine), Brooke Oakes (Robert), Brittney D’Andrea (Josh), Brianne D’Andrea (Frank), Brenna D‘Andrea (Sam), Kenneth Shettle, III (Megan), Alec Shettle (Liza), Tyler Faulkenberry, Jaclyn Faulkenberry, Katie Faulkenberry; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Gracelyn, Madelyn, Rylee, Michael, Maxwell, Maya Rose, Joshua, Emerson, and Carson; as well as his brother, Vernon Joseph Shettle, Jr. of San Antonio, TX. In addition to his parents, MSgt Shettle was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Margie Shettle.

The funeral service for MSgt Shettle will be held at 3 o’clock, Sunday, November 11th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. , Columbia with Reverend James A. Goudelock officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o’clock.
