Kern’s Obituary Kern Kay Kennedy, 87, of Austin passed away December 24, 2018 in North Little Rock. He was born October 21, 1931 in Tuckerman, Arkansas to the late Keith Karl (Sr. ) and Ruby Perry Kennedy.

Kern was employed at Zenith Seed Company in Tuckerman during his younger years. He was also employed by Travelers Insurance Company at one time. Kern was a railroad detective for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, a conductor/brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad and manager of the Union Pacific band for twelve years.

He played the piano for sixty-three years with Sonny Burgess and the Legendary Pacers. In addition to his parents, Kern was preceded in death by his twin brother, Keith Karl Kennedy, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Eleatha (Leah) Kennedy; daughter, Kathy Kennedy of Columbia, Missouri; sons, Randy Kennedy and Tony (Donna) Kennedy, both of McRae, Arkansas and Perry (Jenny) Kennedy of Florence, Alabama; step-children, Kim (John) Holland of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Jim Whitten of Madison, Georgia; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home with Mel Tindle, Chris Conner and Chaplain Colonel (Ret) G. Michael Bell officiating.

Interment will be 2:00 p.m. at Gracelawn Cemetery in Tuckerman. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2018 at the funeral home. The family suggests donations be made in memory of Kern Kennedy to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or by calling 800-805-5856.
