Kim “Marcy” A. ( D’Eredita) Ranucci was born to Elaine D’Eredita May 17, 1966 in Syracuse, NY. She passed away peacefully Friday morning at home with her family by her side. Kim was a graduate of Maria Regina College with an Associate’s degree in child development and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Crouse School of Nursing.

Kimmy, as some of her close relatives called her, had a passion for caring for others, always putting others before herself. Thus, she went on to work with the disabled. It gave her great happiness to know that she could make a difference in their lives.

Kim was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandma.

She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Although she had to keep a “grow dammit” sign in her backyard, she never quit gardening. She tried everything from flowers, to vegetables, even potted plants with the best soil.

She’d spend the whole day weeding away if she could. She was an avid animal lover from the start. After months of research on Cesar Millan’s techniques she was finally ready “after fifty years of wanting a dog” to pick one up.

Nelson Antonio was perfect from the start and only made Kim more wonderful. They did everything together including cooking, watching the housewives, and yes of course, gardening. Kimmy, inevitably the coolest person in the room, always told the truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.

Everyone always knew where you stood with her. She liked you or she didn’t, it was black or white. As her children we are still trying to figure out which.

(We know she loved us). She was a master cook in the kitchen always on the lookout for new recipes. Some of the family’s favorite dishes include, stuffed mushrooms, banana cream pie, ribs, and fried fish with her own tartar sauce.

Kim will be sorely missed and survived by her children Derek Figueroa, Gabrielle Figueroa (Tyler Pierce) and grandchild Malakai Pierce. She is also survived by her mother Elaine D’Eredita; sisters Christine (Richard) Lamanna and Jennifer (Jim) Sgroi; nephews, Lucas and Vincent Lamanna, Vincent Sgroi; niece, Nicole (Powder) Lamanna; and her beloved dog, Nelson. Calling Hours will be held on Saturday from 3:00 to 6:00pm at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse.

Funeral services will follow at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Villalobos Pitbull Rescue Center.
