Obituary for Kirk William Alapeck Kirk William Alapeck, 58, of Mint Hill, died December 1, 2018, under hospice care at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. Kirk was born on April 17, 1960, in Johnson City, New York, the son of Richard and Phoebe Shanley Alapeck. He grew up and attended high school there then moved after graduation, enlisted in the United States Army.

His father, Richard, worked for IBM and had moved to Charlotte so after an honorable discharge from the Army, Kirk moved to Charlotte to be near his father. Kirk loved music and he worked at and managed music stores, including Coleman Music in China Grove. Kirk also enjoyed sports.

Most of all, however, Kirk enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his father, Richard (wife Deidre) Alapeck of Mint Hill, NC; two brothers: Richard Alapeck of Mint Hill and Scott (wife Jodi) Alapeck of Endicott, NY; and a sister, Lisa Alapeck of Hickory, NC. He is further survived by two nephews: Blake and Benjamin; four nieces: Taylor, Bridgette, Natalie and Lori Beth; as well as numerous other family and friends.

Kirk was preceded in death by his mother, Phoebe Shanley, and a brother, Randy, who died in June of 2018. Kirk’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them. A graveside committal service is being planned at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
