Kristin Fritsch went home to the Lord on Sunday, December 9, 2018 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Kristin was born on January 30, 1965, and grew up one of six siblings in West Toledo on Berkley Drive. She was a 1983 graduate of Saint Ursula Academy.

In June of 1985 Kristin married the love of her life, Donald Fritsch. While her primary vocation was raising her five children, Kristin also worked for many years in Catholic schools as both an Administrative Assistant and Preschool Aid. Kristin was a generous, loving, and compassionate woman who was most in her element when surrounded by her large family and many friends.

Those who knew her best knew her as a fun-loving person, whose laugh and smile instantly lit up the room. She loved summertime, sitting by the pool, trying new breweries with her husband and siblings, and watching sports (especially the Buckeyes, Steelers, and Tigers). She also loved to take trips with her kids and husband.

Kristin was an avid bird enthusiast, and spent her summers tending to her flower-garden and bird feeders. After she and Don married, they moved to their Richfield Township home and became devoted members of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. She was an ardent supporter of Catholic education.

Kristin was known for her empathetic, giving nature; even through years of struggling with her own depression, she compassionately supported many others with the same struggles, and championed awareness of mental health issues. Kristin’s true passion in life, however, was her family. Her selfless, nurturing, and unconditional love for her children was her trademark, and she treasured spending time with her husband, children, and granddaughter.

Her qualities as a mother permeated her years of working with school-children, which she considered a vocation, rather than an occupation. Kristin loved being a wife to Don, and the love and companionship they shared brought fulfillment to both their lives. Kristin’s selfless love reflected an unshakable Christian faith and devotion to God.

Her inner strength and faith in God were evident throughout her hard-fought battle with breast cancer, and were no less evident in the final hours of that battle, as she was a model of courage and grace. Kristin is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Donald Fritsch; her children, Donald Fritsch Jr., Kimberly Fritsch, Nicholas Fritsch, and Allison Fritsch; her granddaughter, Natalia Fritsch; her father, John Ulmer; her siblings, Tim (Connie) Ulmer, Darcy (Joe) Dusseau, Julie Parke, Jenny Viertlbeck, and Molli (Jennifer) Ulmer. Kristin was preceded in death by her mother, Charlene Hulsey, and her son, Jacob Fritsch.

Family and friends may visit at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, Ohio on Thursday, December 13, 2018, from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. There will be a scripture service at 7:00 p.m., after which all will be encouraged to share their favorite memory of Kristin. Her funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marygrove on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., where visitors will be received beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Those wishing to make monetary donations in lieu of flowers are asked to consider Holy Trinity Catholic School, the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
