L. Christian “Chris” Vosler, 84, passed away on his birthday, Sunday, December 02, 2018 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis following a period of declining health. Born in Burns, Wyoming in 1934, he was one of 15 children of Floyd and Valborg (Christensen) Vosler. Chris graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Master Degree of Science in Range Management.

On February 12,1955, he married Patricia I. Meyers in Cheyenne. From 1953-1958 he was a bricklayer in Cheyenne. After acquiring his Masters, he worked for a short time as a Range Conservationist for the Soil Conservationist Service and later for the Bureau of Land Management.

While with the BLM he worked as an Assistant District Manager in Miles City, Montana and later became the District Manager in Burns, Oregon where he was known for starting the first Wild Horse Round-up and Adopt-a-Horse Program. He later worked as the Deputy State Director in Cheyenne, WY. Retiring in 1989, never idle, he became a handyman giving many hours of time helping elderly widows in Thermopolis.

In Burns, Oregon he served a year as Chamber of Commerce President, the Lions Club President. Chris and Pat moved to Thermopolis in 1990. Chris was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He enjoyed building, woodworking and walking. Loved ones remaining include his wife, Pat, sons, Terry of Kingman, AZ and Lynn of Bozeman, MT and daughter, Janice Vosler-Beltran of St. Petersburg, FL, and six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Vosler-Smee and four brothers: Lester, Carl, Robert, Albert and three sisters: Edna, Mildred and Margaret.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 8 at 10:30 at the First Baptist Church in Thermopolis with Pastor Harvey Seidel officiating. Memorials may be made in Chris’ memory to the First Baptist Church, 310 South 6th St., Thermopolis 82443. Mortimore Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
